SERVICES
Every cause is a worthy one, but health promotion and access to health
care is everyone’s concern. We are all working for the day we can live a life without fear
of HIV and AIDS. The challenge is especially critical in the outlying smaller
communities, which is the home to the most diverse and at-greatest-risk for acquiring HIV in the
Dominican Republic. As a critical source of medical care, HIV prevention skills building
and emotional support for these residents, TransCAP-Santo Domingo is charged with preventing
as many new HIV infections among its male residents as possible.
Health services are provided free to all. The work at our drop-in location is not only
offering access to the Santo Domingo's most hard-to-reach and greatest-at-risk for HIV
residents, it is providing support and hope for those already living with AIDS in a
supportive and non-judgmental environment.
We invite you to tour the TransCAP-Santo Domingo office during service hours, and to
find out more about our daily operations, as well as our plans for the future.
The Foundation’s immediate needs include specialized medicines Antiretrovirals
which are costly and difficult to obtain in the Dominican Republic; a service van for
community outreach, and movement of supplies and materials for community outreach
activities; and funds for additional contracts with private doctors for the treatment
of our most severe clients.
